Best use of Amex Membership Rewards points: Around the World ticket!

Perhaps the best use of Amex Membership Rewards is the 1:1 transfer to ANA Mileage Club. They have excellent redemption rates for flights pretty much anywhere in the world using their Star Alliance partners, including the amazing Singapore Airlines

Little known, is that they still allow you to book around the World Awards based on distance traveled. Starting at 55,000 in economy class for a "short" around the world itinerary. Recently, I was able to book a very good itinerary with several stops and flying on great airlines and aircraft for only 145,000 miles all in business class!

Up to a couple of years ago, many airlines offered this choice. However, one by one, they are getting rid of around the world awards.
